One day, a prince on a horse happened to pass by their house on his way to the forest for hunting.

He saw the girl on the roof and asked,

“Why is that girl sitting on the roof?”

“To let the people know how smart my
　daughter is. Believe it or not,she can
　spin gold thread out of mud and straw,”
answered the mother loudly so her daughter could hear her.

Without noticing her joking tone, the prince said in surprise,

“If it’s true, I want to take her
　to my castle as my wife.”
